Liberty Day Resolution

Whereas Liberty is the fertile soil in which God’s people can most effectively flourish;

Whereas
throughout the ages men have so valiantly given their lives for this liberty which we hold so dearly and ought defend with the same passionate zeal;

Whereas
the Scriptures repeatedly command us to proclaim liberty; and our Savior, Himself, came to set men at liberty;

Whereas
on this Twenty-third day of March in the year of our Lord, Seventeen Hundred Seventy-five, Patrick Henry did so nobly arise and denounce the irresponsibility of the elected sentinels of liberty; and,

Whereas
the cause of Liberty is growing weaker with the years of selfish life and ought to be revived before it is wholly extinguished; it is therefore

Resolved:
that this day, the twenty-third of March, should be ever set apart for the commemorating of liberty. It should be observed by the recounting of various noble deeds attending liberty, the reciting of past orations, and numerous original speeches that would stir the hearts of mankind to beseech the most high for liberty in this day in which tyranny is pressing in.
