11th Annual Liberty Day Celebration

You, our friends and fellow Americans, are invited to celebrate our nation’s glorious heritage as we inflame in our hearts a richer love for this most precious gift - Liberty!

Come join us as over two hundred thirty years after Patrick Henry kindled the flame of liberty in the hearts of his hearers, with his now immortal words of liberty or death, we gather to commemorate the event.

You will laugh, learn, and perhaps even cry during this evening of family fun as with story, song, and skit we recall the principles, the men and events, the battles and the legends of ages past that have brought to us the liberty that shone America’s name across the world.

This year we are holding our celebration in conjunction with the conference: Preserving Our Sacred Honor: Principled Founders Speak Today.

The annual highlight of the evening celebration is the exciting, fully costumed dramatic reenactment of the debate that took place during the 2nd Virginia Convention that culminates in the delivery of Patrick Henry’s famous speech.

Step back in time to March 1775, as you sit amongst George Washington, Richard Henry Lee, Thomas Jefferson, Patrick Henry and many others as they heatedly debate the controversial issue of their day—whether or not to go to war against their mother country, England. Excitement fills the air as you grapple with the gripping arguments on each side. But, you’re not just a bystander! You, too, get to use your voice and cast your vote as one of the delegates! Aye or Nay? It's up to you!

Encasing the debate will be music and stories of heroes and history. As a special guest, Mr. Charlie Zahm will be joining us as a guest artist for Liberty Day 2009! Whether he is singing the glories of gallant General Washington, an ode to "Liberty," songs of battles won or lost, or just popular selections of the times, Charlie calls on a robust baritone, mastery of guitar (and other instruments), and a seasoned approach to the art of "entertaining" to provide a program enjoyed by all! You don't want to miss this opportunity to hear him in Illinois!

After the presentations of the evening, enjoy apple pie, join in dancing the Virginia Reel, military drills, and other fun activities that the whole family can join in on!
