2010 Essay Contest

Attention Writers!

Here is your mission: Write a Letter to the Editor of a local or national newspaper on a recent article, or current event issue. Submit it to the editor, then send us a copy, whether or not they publish it! If you are replying to an article previously published, please include a copy of, or link to, that article as well.

Judging criteria will include relevance, clarity, and style.

E-mail your submission, or mail it postmarked, on or before March 6, 2010.

There are three categories, and prizes awarded to each!

***Due to publication restrictions for some newspapers, word counts are tightly limited this year. How concisely can you make your point?
Students ages 8-12 - up to 150 words
Students ages 13-18 - up to 250 words
Adults ages 19-99 - up to 250 words

Be sure to include the author's name, date of birth, phone number, and email address.

Email your essay as a Microsoft Word document, or, if mailed, essay must be printed on white paper in 12 point Times New Roman font.

Essay authors must be registered for the 2010 Liberty Day Conference. Authors who have not registered for Liberty Day 2010 will have their essays disqualified.  Click Here for registration information.

Winners will be announced during our Liberty Day Celebration on March 20, 2010 which will take place at Medinah Baptist Church, in Medinah, Illinois.
